Sensex, Nifty open in green; pharma, capital goods stocks gain



The broader market continues to out-perform the CNX Nifty index, the Midcap and Smallcap indices have gained over 0.5 percent each at 13,389 and 5,455, respectively. All sectoral indices are trading in green, the CNX Pharma index has spurted almost a percent at 12,303.


The market has bucked the global trend and started the day on a positive, owing to strength in Indian rupee against US dollar.
The BSE Sensex opened higher by 27-odd points at 27,973, while the NSE Nifty was marginally up at 8,440 at the opening bell.

Soon, the key benchmark indices firmed-up and rallied to a fresh intra-day high at 28,047 and 8,473, respectively.

At 9:41 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 28,072 up 126 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8,481 up 37 points.

The Infra and Auto indices have gained over 0.5 percent each at 3,333 and 8,572, respectively.

The Bank Nifty, Metal, PSU Bank, Realty, FMCG and Energy indices are the other gainers.

Lupin is the top gainer in the Nifty space, up over 2 percent at Rs. 1,913. Bosch and BHEL have jumped 1.4 percent each at Rs. 23,350 and Rs. 259, respectively.

Bajaj Auto, Kotak Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, BPCL, Hero MotoCorp and Tata Steel are the other prominent gainers.

On the losing side, HCL Technologies and Wipro declined nearly a percent each at Rs. 946 and Rs. 552, respectively.

Tech Mahindra, Tata Motors and Reliance have also declined 0.5 percent each.
