Sensex, Nifty remain flat

The breadth is positive in morning deals - out of 2,073 stocks traded on the BSE so far 1,329 stocks are advancing, while 671 stocks are declining. The broader market is out-performing the BSE index; the Midcap and Smallcap indices are up 0.2-0.3 percent each at 10,889 and 11,381, respectively.


The stock market continues to trade on a flat note, amid choppy trade after yesterday's huge fall.
The BSE benchmark index so far has moved in a range of 172 points from 27,798 to 27,626, respectively.
Now, the BSE Sensex is up 30 points at 27,718.
The NSE Nifty touched a high at 8,400 and a low at 8,343, and is now merely up eight points at 8,371.
The broader market is out-performing the BSE index; the Midcap and Smallcap indices are up 0.2-0.3 percent each at 10,889 and 11,381, respectively.
Sectorwise, the BSE IT has dropped over a percent at 10,280. The Oil & Gas index has shed almost a percent at 9,860.
The Auto and Bankex indices are the other losers - down 0.2.0.3 percent each at 21,165 and 18,485, respectively.
On the other hand, the BSE Capital Good index has spurted 1.4 percent at 18,168. The Healthcare, Power and Consumer Durables indices have gained nearly a percent each.

In the IT space - TCS has slipped 2 percent at Rs. 2,541, ahead of Q1 results today.
PFL Infotech has also tumbled 2 percent at Rs. 55. HCL Technologies and MindTree have dropped nearly 2 percent each at Rs. 916 and Rs. 1,214, respectively.
eClerx Services, CMC and Infosys have shed 1.5 percent each at Rs. 1,475, Rs. 1,980 and Rs. 943, respectively.
On the other hand, 3i Infotech has soared almost 5 percent at Rs. 4.64. Indian Infotech has surged almost 4 percent at Rs. 0.27.
Nucleus Software, Lycos Internet, HCL Infosystems and Polaris Consulting are the other significant gainers.
