ONGC, HDFC, HUL, Coal India and Reliance are top gainers while Maruti Suzuki, Sun Pharma, Infosys, Tata Motors and L&T are losers. Gold languished near its lowest level in nearly six years, while silver and platinum also held near multi-year lows on a strong dollar and increasing expectations that the Federal Reserve would increase US interest rates next month. Crude oil futures rose around one percent, after Saudi Arabia pledged to work towards oil price stability, while a strong US dollar and an expected rise in US crude stocks limited the price rally.
