Nifty opens below 7850, Sensex weak; Bajaj Auto, TCS drag -- 18 Dec 2015

The market has opened lower on Friday after surging yesterday. The Sensex is down 59.71 points at 25744.07 and the Nifty is down 15.45 points at 7828.90. About 326 shares have advanced, 223 shares declined, and 40 shares are unchanged. Bajaj Auto, Vedanta, TCS, M&M and Dr Reddy's Labs are major losers while HDFC, NTPC, Maruti and Hindalco are top gainers in the Sensex.

                                                     
The 30-share index pared some of the morning losses, but was still trading at 25,750, down 53 points or 0.21 per cent. It touched a high of 25,789.51 and a low of 25,703.01 in morning trade.

The Nifty50 was at 7,819 down 24 points or 0.31 per cent. It touched a high of 7,836.15 and a low of 7,809.25 in the first 30 minutes of trade.

The S&P BSE Midcap Index was up 0.10 per cent and BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.05 per cent lower. 

NTPC (up 0.90 per cent)Axis Bank (up 0.78 per cent), HUL (up 0.74 per cent), and GAIL (up 0.70 per cent) were among the major Sensex gainers. 

Bajaj Auto (down 1.6 per cent), Vedanta (down 1.5 per cent), Infosys (down 1.25 per cent), and BHEL (down 1.01 per cent) were among the major Sensex losers
